Trunk or Treat

Last night was the ward Halloween party. It was a lot of hard work setting up, but totally worth it. I decorated the parking lot with ghosts, trash bags and newspapers, and had the task of judging the adult male and female costumes. I really wish I had taken some pictures, because there were some outrageous costumes. Wendi and Justin Hill won the "best couple" prize for their 80's Prom night garb. She totally looked like Reba MacIntire. Plus, there was Ben Ledford dressed up as a clown, which reminded me of Stephen King's Pennywise from "It", and scared a lot of children. We had a great chili cook-off and decorated trunks that added a lot of spice and entertainment to the evening. Erick was Captain Jack Sparrow, complete with dread locks, eye makeup, and authentically drawn pirate gun. He won my first prize.

Company Picnic

Yesterday was Hoshizaki's company picnic at Six Flags. They gave us free tickets to get in and a free meal ticket and everything. The only thing I wasn't too happy about was the fact that I couldn't ride anything. I wouldn't trade the baby for all the free roller coaster rides in the world, but Six Flags isn't that affordable anymore, and they don't have anything for pregnant women to do, except to spend more money. I did ride the choo-choo train though.




Erick and Adam rode a ride together, but all of the other rides required Erick to ride by himself and to be a little taller, and Erick doesn't even like to swing in a swing by himself. I got some candid shots of his mirth:




Funny, huh?! But he brightened up by lunch time, but only after Daddy won him a basketball.



We had a great time being together as a family, and I can finally put faces to the names that Adam talks about from work. I hope to go next year too, minus a couple of babies and plus a ton more roller coaster rides.

Breakfast Time

Well, it always amazes me how much food Erick can consume. Maybe not exactly in quantity, but how many times he wants to eat. It's awesome that Erick thinks that I can do anything, anytime, at anyplace, BUT when it comes to breakfast, he wants it as soon as the word eat crosses his mind. Oh, to have the powers of Samantha on "Bewitched" and all I have to do is wiggle my nose, and breakfast is served- not too hot and not too cold. Maybe I should give him a frozen waffle to try, because he is way too impatient for the toaster to pop out a warm one. So this morning, after I made some grits, yes grits... with cheese and butter yum, and blew every single bite until it was gone, I had but a thirty minute enterval before Erick was announcing a new wave of hunger. What? More? That was a lot of grits! What was the fastest thing I could come up with? ->Noodles in a cup--I was out of frozen waffles. He really likes noodles anyway. What he doesn't like is to wait for the 3 min. it takes for the hot water to rehydrate the noodles. And when I come out of the kitchen empty-handed, he's devastated. Some day we'll come to an understanding. Oh yeah, lunch and dinner are still to come.

So I just love the fall season, and I like Halloween. And even though this was Erick's costume last year:

This year he is going to be Captain Jack Sparrow. I'm way excited and I've already made his "wig" out of yarn wrapped up into dreadlocks, with braids and beads. It's gonna win the costume contest at the ward activity for sure.

I work part-time as a babysitter and as a picture framer. The babysitting job will soon end, which will be good considering I am five months pregnant, and the picture framing job is awesome, considering I get to frame my pictures for free and hang them on my bare walls. Yesterday I had the ultrasound, and we found out that we will be having another baby boy! We already have a name picked out. We have decided to call him Tripp Nathaniel, but as of this morning, the name Seth Michael popped into my head and I'm gonna run it by Adam. (I'll put pics of the ultrasound as soon as I scan them.)

Okay, it has been a while, but much has happened in the life of a housewife.

I'll start with how things finished up in the month of September. Erick is growing so fast. Since we've moved into the new house, he has grown an average of an inch a month, so about 3" so far. Something must be in the water. I took him to Wal-Mart to get his first studio pictures. They had a 30 picture portrait sale for $5.99, so I thought I would take him and no matter what they tried to talk me into buying, I would just get the deal and get out of there. And to make it work, I took the only cash I had, which was about 18 dollars. Boy, it was rough. Erick was so photogenic, I would have bought the whole set of photos if I could have. I wound up giving in and spending 17 something, all of what was in my pocket, but I got a great deal. What do you think?





We also had a Housewarming Party this month. My friend Renee did an awesome job of planning and providing food, but a lot of those that RSVP'd didn't show up, and I felt so bad that she had gone to so much trouble for me- she's a great friend.

I also taught a morning watercolor painting class for an Enrichment activity that was so much fun, so we have a night-time class scheduled for October. Awesome!
