Ok, it's actually a bassinet, but still. Today is my first time on my own with Erick and Tripp. Adam was off a whole week, and Mom is off on Mondays anyway, but she stayed home Tuesday cause she didn't feel well. Anyway, needless to say... I'm TIRED! Not emotionally, but physically I'm drained. I can't wait for nap time, and I hope Tripp sleeps then too. Tripp wakes up in the night every couple of hours or so to nurse, but last night was kind of hard and I surprised myself when I laughed. I figured out that Tripp pees a lot. So even if he doesn't wake up to nurse, I still need to wake up to change him, because he'll wind up soaking his clothes. Absorbency liner my butt. I had to change his outfit 3 times during the night last night. But here was the funny part. Tripp poops a lot too. So I put a clean outfit on him and I was changing his little booty when all of the sudden he decided he wasn't done. Projectile poop all over my legs and my side of the bed. Of course he didn't get any on him, which was cool because I had just put a clean outfit on him. It wasn't too hard to clean up because I keep his diapers and wipes right next to our bed, and I was probably delirious at this point because I was laughing to myself. Then when I was all ready to put a new diaper on him, I noticed that he peed again all over his outfit. I see a pattern developing if I'm not careful. The other funny thing is that Erick did the same thing to me when he was a newborn, except I screamed when his poop flew out at me because it scared the crap out of me, no pun intended. Plus, their butts sound like shotguns and the sound kind of makes you jump. So I'm sleepy and I'm glad Erick is a snuggler, because he'll sit on my lap and I'll pretend to be watching Dora the Explorer with him. If he notices that my eyes are closed though, he does something to wake me up- like poke my eyes while saying, "Nite nite." Don't worry, I don't fall asleep at the drop of a hat like my mother. I'm a really lite sleeper, which is another reason why I don't sleep well at night. If the baby grunts a lot, I wake up to make sure he isn't choking or something. If the baby is too quiet, I wake up to make sure that he is breathing. I wish it was warmer so that I could take them outside and we could wear ourselves out so that we could sleep better at night. I haven't slept all through the night though since Erick was born. Except last Christmas Eve, Erick slept all night in his bed and I had a full nights sleep with a REM cycle and everything. I figured it was his Christmas present to me.
